পাণ্ডবদের বাতি বা টর্চ Lamp or torch of the Pandavas

 It is the name of a tree found in the Western Ghats of India and Sri Lanka. Its scientific name - callicarpa tomentosa (callicarpa tomentosa).The characteristic of this plant is that it will burn if it is lit with a little oil on its leaves. It is said that in the Mahabharata, this leaf helped the Pandavas to walk through the forest at night. So it is called the lamp or torch of the Pandavas!

এটি হল একটি গাছের নাম যেটি দেখা যায় ভারতের পশ্চিমঘাট পর্বতমালায় ও শ্রীলঙ্কা । এর বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম - ক্যালিকার্পা টোমেন্টসা ( callicarpa tomentosa ) ।এই উদ্ভিদের বৈশিষ্ট্য হচ্ছে, এর পাতার

 উপর সামান্য তেল দিয়ে জ্বালালেই জ্বলতে থাকবে।কথিত আছে মহাভারতে পাণ্ডবদের বনবাসকালে এই পাতাই জঙ্গলের মধ্যে দিয়ে রাত্রিকালে পথ চলতে সাহায্য করত। তাই একে পাণ্ডবদের বাতি বা টর্চ বলা হয় !

It is still used in many temples in South India.

এখনো এটি দক্ষিণ ভারতের অনেক মন্দির ব্যাবহৃত হয়।
