Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G (Snapdragon)
As part of Oppo's premium Reno line of smartphones, two new 5G smartphones have been introduced: the Oppo Reno 6 Pro and the Oppo Reno 6 SoCs and new camera features to boast about. Oppo hasn't deviated too far from the tried and tested formula we've seen in the past, which is both good and bad. During the review, we'll go into more detail on this.
This time around, we'll look at the Oppo Reno 6 Pro, which represents the series' star. Oppo has heavily promoted its new "bokeh video" feature which is said to simulate the type of background blur you can get when using a narrow aperture lens on a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Also in the Reno 6 Pro, you'll find a lot of those features that made the Reno 5 Pro 5G so great. Nevertheless, there is now significantly stiffer competition within the sub-Rs. So how does the Reno 6 Pro fare against a 40,000 segment event?
Prices and specifications of the Oppo Reno 6 Pro
In the Oppo Reno 6 Pro, Oppo increased the RAM and storage, just like its predecessor. However, Oppo has made one fewer configuration available. With this new model, you get 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. As for the latter, only two Nano-SIM cards can be inserted into the SIM tray.
Design of the Oppo Reno 6 Pro
Oppo hasn't really changed much in the design of the Reno 6 Pro, and it looks remarkably much like its predecessor. It has the same thickness, 7.6mm, as the previous model, but the weight goes up a little (177g). The chrome-lined frame and rounded front and back make this chair look very stylish. Over the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 5, while the back glass gets special treatment, giving it a matte finish with a shimmering crystal-like appearance. My phone comes in the Aurora color, and it is also available with a Stellar Black trim.
There are a lot of buttons and I found the placement of them to be ergonomic. Located at the bottom of the phone are the SIM tray, USB Type-C port, and speaker. The top of this model doesn't have any writing like the previous one, only a microphone. There is no headphone jack on the Oppo Reno 6 Pro, but you can connect a USB Type-C headset to it.
Additionally, the display has a high specification. 180Hz touch sampling rate. The bezels are evenly slim all around and the cutout for the selfie camera is unobtrusive.
The previous model featured an in-display fingerprint sensor and an always-on display so you could quickly see notifications, the time, and the battery level.
As I tested the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G personally, I found its design to be very familiar.
A description of Oppo Reno 6 Pro's specifications and software
Among the major improvements in the Oppo Reno, 6 Pro is its new MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. In comparison to the Density 1000+ SoC in the previous model, the new one is built using a smaller 6nm process (versus 7nm), and is equipped with a more powerful ARM Cortex-A78 processor. According to reports, GPU performance has also improved, despite the fact that it is the same subsystem. Reno 6 Pro isn't the first phone in India to feature this SoC; the Realme X7 Max (Review) did as well.
Cameras Oppo Reno 6 Pro
With regards to the camera setup, it is virtually identical to that on the Oppo Reno 5 Pro. It includes a 64-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera. Taking selfies is easy thanks to the 32-megapixel front-facing camera. We still don't have any optical stabilization on the main rear camera, and we don't have a telephoto camera either.
